Does UCARE include dental coverage?
Our Medicare plans include dental coverage, with either a yearly dental allowance or preventive dental with optional additional dental coverage. UCare Prime and UCare Aware both have a dental allowance.
Is Medicare and UCare the same?
No matter where you live in Minnesota, UCare has a Medicare plan to fit you and your wallet. You can choose the level of coverage that's right for you and decide if you'd rather: Pay a higher premium and pay less for care when you need it. Pay a lower premium and pay more for care when you need it.

Does UCare cover Shingrix?
New for 2021 UCare members now have lower copays for the Shingrix shingles vaccine. Members who take select formulary insulins have a low copay of $30 to $35 for a one-month supply, regardless of Part D coverage phase.

Who is Medicare through?
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is the federal agency that runs Medicare. The program is funded in part by Social Security and Medicare taxes you pay on your income, in part through premiums that people with Medicare pay, and in part by the federal budget.
What is a prepaid medical service plan?
Under a prepaid plan, insurance companies arrange to pay health care providers for any service for which an enrollee has coverage. The insurer effectively agrees to provide the insured with health care services, rather than reimbursement dollars.

What is UCare Connect?
UCare Connect + Medicare (HMO D-SNP) is a health plan that contracts with both Medicare and the Minnesota Medical Assistance (Medicaid) program to provide benefits of both programs to enrollees. Enrollment in UCare Connect + Medicare depends on contract renewal
Does UCare have a contract with a pharmacy?
UCare has contracts with pharmacies that equal or exceed Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements for pharmacy access in your area
Do you have to pay Medicare Part B premium?
You must continue to pay your Medicare Part B premium.
Can you use UCare for routine care?
Members must use plan providers for routine care except for emergency care, out-of-area renal dialysis/urgent care, (and in-area urgent care when the UCare Medicare Group Plans or Group UCare for Seniors network is temporarily unavailable), and Point-of-Service benefits.If you obtain care from out-of-network providers neither Medicare or UCare Medicare Group Plans will be responsible for the costs.

How long do you have to sign up for Medicare if you don't have Social Security?
If you’re not receiving Social Security benefits, you’ll need to sign up for Medicare. You have seven months to sign up for Medicare — three months before your 65th birthday, the month of your 65th birthday, and three months after your 65th birthday.
How many parts does Medicare have?
Medicare is made up of four parts. Two of those parts are sponsored by the Federal government and two refer to plans you can get from private health insurance companies, like UCare.
Is Medicare complex?
Medicare can be complex. We consider it our job to make it as clear and simple as possible so you can make the right choice for you.
Can you change your employer's plan?
For example, if you were covered by your employer’s plan and didn’t enroll during the initial enrollment period or you moved to a new area with different plan options.
Does Medicare pay for all the health care?

UCare Connect is a Special Needs BasicCare (SNBC) program. It is available to individuals who are at least 18 years of age and under 65, have a certified disability, receive Medical Assistance (Medicaid) from the state with or without Medicare Parts A and B, and live in the service area

If your application status is “Incomplete”, call 1-888-243-8874 and speak with a UCare Enrollment Specialist. Or wait until you receive a call or letter from UCare with more explanation and instructions on how to proceed.

How to apply for Medicare for kidney transplant?
In order to be considered for Medicare coverage, you must show documentation from your doctor to having had a successful kidney transplant and/or that you don’t need regular dialysis anymore. If documents can’t be attached, please fax documentation to UCare at 1-866-283-43 41 or mail to UCare Enrollment, P.O. Box 52, Minneapolis, MN 55440. If you are not able to upload your documentation now, you can save your application without submitting and finish it later.
